About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our private game reserve located in the renowned Sabi Sands. As a key member of our culinary team, you will support the Executive Chef in delivering exceptional cuisine in a luxury safari environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations and overall team management
  • Maintain consistently high culinary standards in food preparation and presentation
  • Lead, train, and motivate junior kitchen staff to ensure strong team performance
  • Uphold strict hygiene, health, and food safety standards at all times
  • Participate in menu development, seasonal planning, and ingredient sourcing
  • Manage stock levels, orders, and kitchen inventory control
  • Oversee smooth and efficient service across all meal periods
  • Step into the Executive Chef role when required and assist with kitchen administration

Requirements

  • Formal culinary qualification from a recognised institution
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a fine dining environment, with at least 2 years in a senior role
  • Strong leadership and team coordination abilities
  • Creative flair with excellent attention to detail and presentation
  • Solid knowledge of food safety, kitchen operations, and modern cooking techniques
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Passion for delivering exceptional guest dining experiences

Salary & Benefits

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience. Live-in accommodation provided with meals included. 15 days annual leave per year.
