About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Workshop Foreman to join our team at TYGERBERG ENGINE REBUILDERS. As the bridge between management and technical staff, you will ensure that engines are rebuilt to high standards, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervising staff
  • Controlling the technical quality of the overhaul
  • Managing workflow
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards
  • Reviewing jobcards to ensure detailed records of engine specs, parts used, and labor performed are accurately maintained
  • Liaising with technicians or customers to explain technical issues, repair needs, and cost estimates for major overhauls
  • Training and mentoring; providing ongoing training to technicians and apprentices on new engine technologies, machining techniques, and proper assembly procedures
  • Measuring the accuracy of machined components and clearances
  • Managing work in progress
  • Allocating available technicians to maintain deadlines
  • Parts and inventory management; ordering the correct parts and ensuring quality

Requirements

  • Qualified Technician/Mechanic/Automotive Machinist with extensive experience in petrol/diesel engine rebuilding
  • Strong leadership abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of machining procedures (e.g., boring, honing, resurfacing, crankshaft grinding, lineboring, conrod repairs, cylinder head overhauls, and engine assembly)
