Springs: Project Manager

Roles and Responsibilities Project Manager (Steel Structures / Engineering) Job Purpose The Project Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end management of steel engineering projects from contract award through to completion. The role requires hands-on experience on the contractor side within the steel industry, strong planning and coordination skills, and proficiency in MS Projects to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to specification. Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Execution Manage projects from initiation to handover Develop, maintain, and track project programmes using MS Projects Coordinate fabrication, logistics, erection, and subcontractors Ensure adherence to project timelines, scope, and deliverables Contractor-Side Project Management Act as the main point of contact between site, fabrication, and clients Manage contractors and subcontractors on-site Monitor progress against programme and resolve delays Oversee site activities, quality control, and compliance Steel Industry Focus Manage projects involving structural steel fabrication and erection Understand steel detailing, fabrication processes, and erection methodologies Coordinate with engineers, detailers, and workshop teams Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and standards Cost, Quality & Risk Management Monitor project costs and support cost control measures Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies Ensure quality standards and safety regulations are met Support claims, variations, and change management Reporting & Communication Prepare and present regular project progress reports Maintain accurate project documentation Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, and internal teams Minimum Requirements Proven experience as a Project Manager Steel industry experience (fabrication and erection) essential Strong working knowledge of MS Projects Relevant qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously Solid understanding of site safety and quality standards Key Competencies & Attributes Strong leadership and coordination skills Excellent planning and organisational ability Results-driven with strong problem-solving skills Clear communicator with strong stakeholder management Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Hands-on, practical, and decisive Employment Details Employment Type: Permanent Employment Industry: Metal and Engineering Work space preference: Work Onsite Ideal work province: Gauteng Ideal work city: Springs Salary bracket: R 80000 – 100000 Drivers License: CODE B (Car) Own car needed: No
