About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our team in Stellenbosch. As a key member of our finance department, you will work closely with the Financial Manager and key business units to provide high-quality financial analysis, management accounting, and accurate financial reporting to support informed business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, annual budgets, and revenue and expense forecasts
- Ensure the integrity of financial results through variance analysis and identification of discrepancies on income statements and balance sheets at entity level
- Perform financial analysis of business unit earnings and expenses, including burn-rate analysis
- Consolidate financial information for corporate and management reporting, providing insights into key movements
- Enable data-driven decision-making through real-time performance analysis and reporting
- Prepare statutory and ad hoc management reports
- Contribute to profit and loss analysis, including identifying improvement strategies
- Manage and maintain accounting tools and dashboards, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Prepare debtor reports, analyse client profitability, manage working capital, and track capital allocation KPIs
- Assist with claims reporting
- Manage daily Accounts Payable processes and bank payment runs
Requirements
- Qualified SAIPA or SAICA Accountant with completed articles (or equivalent)
- Solid understanding of financial accounting, management accounting, budgeting, and cost control
- Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and profitability analysis
- Experience using accounting software for input and reporting (Xero experience highly advantageous)
- Advanced Excel skills; basic computer programming skills are beneficial
- Experience within the financial services or insurance sector is advantageous but not essential
Qualifications
- Completed articles in accountancy (SAIPA or SAICA)
