About the Role
The successful incumbent will report to the Sawmill Production Manager and play a crucial role in planning, coordinating, and overseeing night shift operations within the production departments. This includes focusing on the Wetmill, with additional responsibilities in the Drymill as directed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and overseeing night shift operations
- Support the management of performance, productivity, efficiency, and cost control during the night shift
- Adhere to and enforce company policies and procedures to maximize operational output and minimize risk
- Monitor the maintenance and maintenance scheduling of machinery and equipment to ensure operational efficiency
- Maintain high housekeeping standards across all relevant production areas
- Assist in controlling departmental expenses to align with approved budget parameters
Requirements
- Valid drivers license
- Proven experience in a leadership or production assistant management role; experience within a sawmilling environment will be an added advantage
- Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing production plans, process controls, and quality assurance measures
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Solid understanding of current labour legislation
- Ability to perform under pressure and consistently meet deadlines and production targets
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate production teams effectively
- Proven ability to foster and maintain productive relationships with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Willingness to work additional hours when required
