Job Description

Based full-time within a warehouse environment, the Returns Desk Technician is responsible for diagnosing, evaluating, and documenting returned mechanical and electrical products. This role requires a methodical, focused individual who thrives on structured processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Receive, book in, and systematically organize all returned products arriving at the warehouse.
  • Disassemble, inspect, and test technical items to accurately pinpoint faults or defects.
  • Conduct basic technical assessments to determine whether issues are manufacturing faults, installation errors, or misuse.
  • Assist with the overall repair process, warranty validation, and replacement decisions.
  • Record technical findings clearly and accurately within internal spreadsheet and tracking systems.
  • Liaise closely with internal teams, including the warehouse, technical, and sales divisions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of verifiable experience in a technical, hands-on role (such as electrical work, assembly/disassembly, repairs, or workshop environments).
  • Proven ability to work comfortably with hand tools and interpret how physical products are put together.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical faults systematically.
  • Basic computer literacy, with specific operational knowledge of Microsoft Excel for accurate data capture.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Must be reliably based within the greater Durban region for daily commuting to Mount Edgecombe.
