About the Role
Network Contracting is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously, leading junior engineers, and driving projects from concept through completion. You will have the opportunity to work on various mechanical design and development activities, including engineering calculations, FEA analysis, 3D modeling, and manufacturing data compilation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and contribute to multiple engineering projects simultaneously, ensuring quality and timely delivery
- Lead and support the development of junior engineers and technical staff
- Take ownership of mechanical design and development activities, including:
- Engineering calculations from first principles
- FEA and simulation analysis
- 3D modeling and detailed design (CAD)
- Compilation of complete manufacturing data packs (BOMs, drawings, quality plans, manuals, etc.)
- Drive projects from concept through to completion, ensuring alignment with engineering standards and internal processes
- Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support to workshop and field teams
- Ensure compliance with relevant engineering codes, standards, and quality requirements
- Review technical documentation, inspection reports, and project deliverables, implementing corrective actions where necessary
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders on project progress
- Promote and enforce a strong culture of safety and best engineering practices
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (technical and professional)
- Solid understanding of 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks advantageous)
- Experience with FEA and simulation tools (e.g., SolidWorks Simulation, Abaqus beneficial)
- Familiarity with engineering calculation software (e.g., Mathcad, MATLAB or similar)
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., ASME, API, ABS, DNV) is advantageous
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes such as fabrication, welding, and machining
- Strong planning, organisational, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently while also leading and guiding others
Minimum Requirements
- BSc or BEng in Mechanical Engineering (essential)
- 3–6 years’ experience in a mechanical engineering or manufacturing environment
