Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and test the quality of all incoming raw materials, including maize grit, vegetable oil, and flavourings (assessing size, cleanliness, taste, smell, and colour).
- Conduct continuous quality checks on production processes, including extrusion, frying/baking, and flavour application.
- Inspect packaging processes to ensure accuracy in seals, labelling, date stamps, product matching, and weight compliance.
- Ensure all packing scales are calibrated and functioning correctly.
- Verify correct handling and usage of products throughout production stages.
- Perform laboratory testing on products and materials in line with established procedures.
- Maintain accurate daily documentation, ensuring all quality records are completed, filed, and stored appropriately.
- Conduct routine quality inspections to ensure adherence to internal standards and procedures.
- Perform cleaning inspections across production lines as per scheduled cleaning days.
- Investigate customer complaints, identify root causes, and support implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensure product samples are correctly taken, tested, and retained as required.
- Report non-conformances and quality issues promptly.
- Communicate quality findings and results to relevant stakeholders.
- Assist with additional duties within scope as required.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) or higher qualification.
- Previous experience in the food manufacturing industry is essential.
- Solid understanding of quality control principles and practices.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Outlook).
- Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).
