Job Summary

Location: Botswana Position Overview Seeking a highly skilled and proactive Technical Manager to oversee all technical operations, particularly regarding water and power, across a portfolio of luxury lodges, staff villages, and reserve infrastructure. The role requires a strong focus on sustainability, preventative and reactive maintenance, and the operation and enhancement of critical systems such as solar power, electrical networks, water treatment and distribution, and general infrastructure. The Technical Manager is responsible for maintaining and improving operational standards in line with the brands commitment to world-class guest experiences and environmental stewardship. Key Responsibilities Maintenance & Operations Oversight Provide expert advice and strategic direction on all maintenance-related activities across lodges, staff villages, and the reserve. Manage both reactive (breakdown) and proactive (preventative) maintenance to uphold and exceed operational standards. Oversee deployment and scheduling of maintenance personnel and contractors, ensuring optimal staffing and productivity. Conduct routine inspections and audits of all physical infrastructure, including buildings, energy systems, water systems, and staff facilities. Energy & Water Systems Management Design, implement, and maintain solar energy systems to maximize renewable energy usage and minimize dependency on generators. Oversee all electrical systems, including three-phase and single-phase installations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance. Manage water purification, storage, and distribution systems, including greywater and sewage treatment plants. Lead water-saving and power-reducing initiatives aligned with sustainability goals. Project & Site Management Act as project manager for all construction, renovation, and infrastructure upgrade projects across properties. Coordinate and supervise contractors, artisans, and suppliers, ensuring high-quality workmanship and timely delivery. Liaise daily with Lodge Managers to identify and prioritize technical needs and projects, providing regular progress updates. Training & Staff Development Recruit, onboard, and manage technical staff including electricians, plumbers, carpenters, painters, and general maintenance workers. Provide continuous training and upskilling in best practices, safety procedures, and sustainability protocols. Foster a team culture focused on pride in craftsmanship, accountability, and continuous improvement. Financial & Administrative Management Assist Lodge Managers in developing monthly maintenance and annual CAPEX budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting and cost control. Oversee procurement and stock management of maintenance supplies, tools, and materials with strict budget adherence. Maintain administrative systems for maintenance reporting, work order tracking, procurement, and cost allocation. Ensure compliance with all financial processes, including invoice processing and stock reconciliations. Leadership & Communication Conduct daily team briefings to plan, assign, and review maintenance tasks and projects. Maintain open communication channels with lodge and operations management; provide clear, concise, and solution-focused feedback. Actively participate in management meetings, contributing technical input to broader operational planning. Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, punctuality, and a strong work ethic. Skills & Qualifications Required Experience & Technical Expertise Minimum of 35 years in a senior maintenance or technical management role in a lodge, resort, or similar hospitality environment. Proven experience in the management and operation of: Solar power systems Water purification and greywater treatment Electrical systems (single and three-phase) Plumbing and sewage systems Refrigeration and air-conditioning General building maintenance Formal qualifications or certifications in Electrical, Solar Installation, or Mechanical Maintenance preferred. Proficient in reading and interpreting technical diagrams, construction drawings, and electrical schematics. Valid Drivers License required Competencies Strong leadership with the ability to mentor and develop teams. Exceptional organizational and time-management skills. Analytical thinker with a problem-solving mindset. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. High attention to detail and commitment to quality control. Able to work effectively in multicultural, remote, and high-pressure environments. Strong sense of personal ownership, accountability, and initiative. Sustainability Leadership Implement, monitor, and continuously improve sustainability programs in line with corporate targets. Lead initiatives to reduce energy consumption, improve water-use efficiency, and manage waste responsibly. Maintain a 96% sustainability audit score across all properties. Daily & Strategic Planning Lead daily maintenance meetings at 07:00 to assign tasks, update planning boards, and coordinate project work. Use planning tools to manage: Camp-specific tasks Breakdowns and emergency repairs Preventative maintenance schedules CAPEX project milestones Artisans, contractors, shopping needs, and material orders Prioritize work effectively; avoid reactive crisis management by encouraging strategic planning and foresight. Monitor progress of maintenance activities, ensuring completion, accountability, and follow-through. Office & Administrative Duties Maintain accurate records of staff attendance, leave, and HR-related documentation in coordination with the Human Capital department. Administer performance reviews, conduct disciplinary hearings, and promote staff wellness and retention. Manage procurement, inventory control, and negotiate with suppliers for best pricing and quality assurance. Maintain records of all tools, materials, and machinery; ensure regular servicing and safekeeping. Job Summary

Ideal position for a strong General Manager who can lead from the front. Manage the Sales Team, be hands-on ensuring that stock levels are maintained, jobs are properly recorded, fleet of vehicles are maintained, and you will be supporting all staff with their issues. The company operates within the automotive industry and your knowledge re parts and vehicles will be a bonus. Requirements: Matric Excellent experience within the technical/automotivehydraulic industry Minimum 5 years as a strong General Manager Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal Ability to ensure that financial results are met Eye for detail and solid understanding of customer service and problem-solving Hands-on General Manager reporting directly to the Director Duties: Ensure that customer service is above the norm Ensure that sales targets are met and that internal sales staff achieve their individual targets Ensure sales staff have relevant product knowledge Incentive programs Sales Training Identify new opportunities in the market and ways of improving current service Make recommendations for price reviews to ensure competitiveness Provide timeous quotes to Customers Ensure that credit notes and claim reports are dealt with quickly and properly Promote the Companies brands to achieve the agreed objectives Visit Customers on a regular basis Provide weekly feedback on matters attended to Ensure Customer credit limits are adhered to Ensure Debtors stay within credit limits STOCK Ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained to provide optimum service levels to customers Provide monthly input in respect of additional quantities and new part numbers in stock ordes placed on overseas suppliers Perform regular checks on stock composition to ensure that slow moving and excess stock levels are not exceeded Ensures that security of stock is excellent Ensures that regular stock takes are done to ascertain whether all the internal control measures are adhered to JOBS Ensure that all jobs are properly recorded Ensure that agreed job turnaround times are achieved Ensure that pricing is competitive Ensure that Customers receive feedback LOGISTICS Ensure that company fleet of vehicles are properly maintained Ensure that the drivers activities are properly monitored from the time they load the routes they take, the time they take and the signing off of the product delivered Ensure that product forwarded via Couriers are also properly monitored to ensure Customer receive their product as promised Ensure that product forwarded to other brances are received within the time span agreed Ensure that product received from Suppliers are unpacked timeously and checked before they are put on the shelves ADMINISTRATION Ensure that all staff are properly appointed and receive employment contracts Ensure that staff understand their goals and are regularly evaluated to measure performance Ensure that personnel policies and procedures are adhered to Ensure that all purchases and expenses are properly recorded and signed off Ensure that expenditure stays within budget parameters Ensure that all Assets of the Company are properly protected and maintained Prepare annual budgets for branch Study monthly management results and take corrective actions Ideal position if you enjoy working with a small to medium size team, be a team player with the ability to lead from the front.
