About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Front-End Developer Team Lead to join our team in Johannesburg. As a key member of our front-end development team, you will be responsible for leading technical direction, mentoring junior developers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and robust web applications. This role emphasizes expertise in React.js and TypeScript, integration with backend APIs, and fostering collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Provide guidance, mentorship, and code reviews for the front-end team.
  • Development: Architect and maintain scalable React-based web applications.
  • Collaboration: Work with backend, design, and product teams to optimize APIs and deliver intuitive user experiences.
  • Roadmap Ownership: Define and refine the front-end development roadmap, aligning with business goals.
  • Quality Assurance: Enforce best practices for code quality, testing, and documentation.
  • Performance Optimisation: Drive improvements in front-end performance, scalability, and developer efficiency.
  • Technology Adoption: Recommend and adopt new technologies to enhance development processes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in front-end development.
  • 5+ years with React.js and TypeScript.
  • Proven experience integrating and optimizing backend APIs.
  • Real-world experience optimizing performance and bundle size.
  • Experience building and maintaining large-scale web applications.
  • Strong understanding of server-side and client-side rendering patterns.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and collaboration tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent).
