About the Role
A well-established tax and accounting practice based in Roodepoort is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will be confident in managing a full client portfolio independently and ensuring accuracy and compliance across all accounting and tax functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complete bookkeeping from source documents to trial balance and annual financial statements (AFS) in compliance with IFRS for SMEs.
- Prepare and submit VAT201 returns accurately and timeously via SARS eFiling.
- Reconcile bank statements, debtors, creditors, and inter-company loan accounts.
- Manage payroll processing, including EMP201 submissions and issuing IRP5/IT3(a) certificates.
- Assist with tax compliance, including provisional tax calculations and ITR14 submissions.
- Ensure all client deliverables are accurate, compliant, and submitted within deadlines.
- Liaise with clients professionally to resolve queries and provide accounting support.
Requirements
- Minimum 35 years proven experience as a Senior Accountant within an accounting or tax practice.
- Proficient in accounting software including Sage (50/One/Pastel), Xero, and QuickBooks.
- Strong working knowledge of SARS eFiling and tax submission processes.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and client relationship management skills.
Qualifications
- Female candidates preferred (as per client request).
- Minimum 35 years proven experience as a Senior Accountant within an accounting or tax practice (Note: This is repeated in Requirements section)
Salary & Benefits
Market-related (R30,000 R45,000 per month, depending on experience)
Working Arrangement
Hybrid Role: 23 days per week required in-office (Roodepoort). Flexible working environment promoting autonomy and work-life balance.
