About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Junior System Support Engineer to join our clients team in Century City, Cape Town. This role is primarily remote, providing desktop and occasional server support across a range of Wintel technologies. You will also have the opportunity to visit client sites for ad-hoc consulting and SLA-based engagements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide remote desktop support and maintenance for Windows 10/11 environments.
- Respond to alerts and incidents flagged by our Network Operations Centre monitoring tools.
- Resolve 1st line support tickets and service requests efficiently.
- Assist with system changes, upgrades, and small-scale IT projects.
- Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external clients.
- Occasionally participate in after-hours support rotations (shadowing or assisting).
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years overall experience with an interest in the IT MSP industry
- Entry-level experience with Windows 2012 R2 / 2016 / 2019/ 2022
- Entry-level experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IIS, PKI etc.
- Entry-level experience with VMware vSphere 5.5 or above
- Entry-level experience with Hyper-V 2012 or above
- Entry-level experience/understanding of patch testing and deployment
- Good understanding of IP addressing and subnetting
- Entry-level understanding of mass storage like SANs and NAS devices
- Entry-level knowledge of VLANs, routing, firewall behaviour, packet shaping etc.
- Comfortable working in server rooms/datacentres, racking and cabling up kit if required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in both English and Afrikaans
- Entry-level knowledge of ITIL framework mindset in terms of structured incident management, request management, change management, contractual scope alignment etc.
- Entry-level knowledge of Exchange 2016 and above

CompTIA A+ and N+
Diploma or degree in Computer Science
