South Africa: Sales Supervisor- (FMCG)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sales Supervisor to join our FMCG team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sales, marketing, or business management, with a proven track record of success in achieving sales targets and leading high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve and exceed daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets
  • Monitor team performance and implement corrective action where required
  • Analyse sales data and identify opportunities for growth
  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of sales representatives and drivers
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and on-the-job training
  • Ensure discipline and adherence to company policies
  • Oversee daily route planning and delivery schedules
  • Ensure optimal product availability and on-time deliveries
  • Monitor returns, damages, and expired stock (critical in bread/perishables)
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and retailers
  • Resolve customer complaints efficiently
  • Identify new business opportunities and expand customer base
  • Ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO) to minimize waste
  • Monitor shelf space, product visibility, and merchandising standards
  • Coordinate with warehouse and production teams
  • Prepare sales reports and forecasts
  • Track KPIs such as volume, revenue, strike rate, and returns
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities

Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric (Essential)
  • Diploma/Degree in Sales, Marketing, or Business Management (Advantageous)
  • 1-3 years experience in FMCG sales
  • Proven experience in bread or perishable goods sales (highly preferred)
  • At least 2-3 years in a supervisory or team leader role
