About the Role
Our client is expanding their logistics footprint and need a hands-on leader to own end-to-end transport & warehouse operations. This isn’t just supervision – it’s about building a lean, reliable network that keeps the product moving fast from factory to shelf. Expect variety: negotiating with transporters one day, troubleshooting depot stockouts the next, and partnering with sales to hit tight delivery windows.
Key Responsibilities
- Source, vet & build a rock-solid database of primary transporters for full truckloads, break-bulk & backhauls
- Forge partnerships with DC gatekeepers, turning them into allies who prioritise your load
- Hunt down efficiencies: route optimisation, carrier consolidation, backhaul maximisation
- Lead a team of pickers/loaders, schedule, drive productivity
- Triage urgent orders with sales
- Implement rigorous cycle counts: daily A-items, weekly B/C-items (target <1% variance)
- Manage inbound/outbound: goods receipt, put-away, picking accuracy, FIFO compliance for perishables
- Depot linkage: weekly SOH audits, automated min/max replenishment alerts
- Root cause variance resolution: damaged goods, theft prevention, supplier discrepancies
- Be part of future systems implementations for WMS
- Weekly KPI reviews: OTIF, carrier performance, warehouse utilisation, stock accuracy
Requirements
FMCG logistics experience (beverage/food preferred), with proven wins in transporter networks, DC relationships & stock control.
