About the Role
Join our dynamic team as a Professional Quantity Surveyor in Cape Town! We are seeking a detail-oriented professional with a passion for cost control, project efficiency, and delivering value to work on exciting projects that shape our built environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage accurate cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports for construction projects.
- Measure and quantify materials, labour, and services required for project delivery (BOQs).
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analysis to support project planning.
- Administer contracts, including tendering processes, contract negotiation, and compliance monitoring.
- Evaluate and approve subcontractor quotations and progress claims.
- Monitor project costs throughout all phases and identify any variations or cost overruns.
- Manage change control processes and assess the cost impact of design or scope changes.
- Prepare interim and final account valuations and settle final accounts with contractors.
- Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure alignment on project costs and timelines.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and professional standards (e.g., SACQSP, JBCC/FIDIC contracts).
- Provide strategic input into value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
- Support project risk management through cost-related insights and forecasting.
Requirements
BSc or BTech in Quantity Surveying
Registered Professional (SACQSP)
5+ years experience in the construction industry
Strong background in cost estimation, tendering, and contract administration
Proficient in software such as WinQS, CCS Candy, or BuildSmart
Qualifications
Formal education/certifications: BSc or BTech in Quantity Surveying; Registered Professional (SACQSP)
