About the Role

A premium Stellenbosch wine estate is seeking an experienced and passionate Assistant Front of House Manager to join its tasting room team. This role is ideal for a hospitality professional with a strong wine service background, leadership skills, and a love for creating exceptional guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate tasting room staff, ensuring excellent service standards
  • Host wine tastings, VIP experiences, and tours
  • Manage front-of-house operations including guest flow, seating, and bookings
  • Liaise with the kitchen for smooth food service and operational coordination
  • Conduct stock takes and assist with stock control and order management
  • Support daily administrative duties, cash-ups, and operational procedures
  • Drive wine sales and upselling across cellar door and international orders
  • Assist with staff training and ongoing wine education

Requirements

  • Previous supervisory or assistant management experience in hospitality or a winery tasting room
  • Wine service or hospitality qualifications (Hospitality Diploma, WSET, Cape Wine Academy, or similar)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Passion for hospitality, wine, and guest service excellence
  • Ability to thrive in a busy, fast-paced environment and maintain operational standards
