About the Role
We are seeking an Organic Conscious Farm to Table Chef/Gardener to join our team in eThekwini, Madagascar. This unique role combines horticultural experience with culinary flair, requiring a strong commitment to sustainable and organic gardening practices, as well as a passion for innovative, garden-to-table cuisine.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and maintaining an organic kitchen garden in our 3 existing properties
- Setting up and managing our 6 hectare farm just outside the capital Antananarivo
- Sowing and harvesting crops throughout the year
- Collaborating with kitchen staff to design menus based on seasonal availability
- Innovative uses of harvested products, including pickling, jams, chutneys, drying, and preserving
- Sourcing seasonal fruit from other areas of the country
- Managing composting and pest control using natural methods
- Keeping detailed records of planting cycles and yields
Requirements
- Experience in both professional cookery and horticulture
- Excellent organisational skills
- Enthusiasm for sharing knowledge about sustainable food and gardening practices
- Ability to work independently and be flexible
- Proactive approach to finding innovative uses for excess products or locally sourced goods

Salary & Benefits
- Starting salary: $20,000 per annum (NO SALARY MENTIONED IN ORIGINAL)
- Accommodation provided in the capital either on the farm or nearby
- Transport provided as needed
- 2 return flights per calendar year to/from Johannesburg
- Visa costs covered by MCC
- 30 working days holiday per calendar year
- Salary paid monthly into chosen bank account (nett amount, no tax taken from SA)
