Cape Town City Centre: Renewable Energies Electrical Engineer

We are hashtagrecruiting an Electrical Engineer for a leading hashtagIPP based in Cape Town, supporting the delivery of utility-scale hashtagrenewable energy projects. Role Overview The hashtagElectrical Engineer will work closely with senior engineering leadership to provide technical assurance, design oversight, and execution support across the full project lifecycle — from development and transactions through construction and commissioning. The role ensures all electrical designs and installations comply with grid requirements, safety standards, and project timelines, contributing directly to successful financial close and COD. Responsibilities Prepare electrical designs, drawings, and cost estimates during development and transaction phases Compile electrical cost inputs for financial models and bid submissions Produce electrical bid deliverables for tenders and project submissions Compile and review RFP / RFQ documentation, including drawings, specifications, and returnable schedules Evaluate tender returnables and support contractor selection Review detailed AFC electrical designs prepared by consultants and contractors Liaise with external electrical engineering consultants and contractors Support electrical site supervisors and construction managers during construction Oversee and support site acceptance testing and commissioning activities Ensure compliance with client requirements, safety regulations, and grid codes Identify electrical technical risks and implement mitigation measures Provide ongoing technical assurance across all project phases Work collaboratively with Development, Transactions, ESG, and Asset Management teams to support financial close and COD delivery Requirements Qualifications & Experience BSc Electrical Engineering / BEng (Electrical) Minimum 5 years’ experience in Renewable Energies Technical Skills & Knowledge Short-circuit, load-flow, cable sizing, and grounding grid calculations (IEEE 80) Experience with power system software such as ETAP, DIgSILENT, NEPLAN, INTEGRA, or similar Strong understanding of renewable energy generation and grid interaction Understanding of transmission, distribution, and grid connection works Knowledge of the South African Grid Code Experience with quality control and technical assurance processes Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
