Job Description
Career Opportunity: Technical Tax Administrator (Registered Tax Practitioner)
Job Title: Tax Administrator / Practitioner
Location: Brooklyn, Pretoria (Onsite)
Contract Type: Full-time
Salary: +- R30,000 per month (Negotiable for the right candidate)
Industry: Professional Accounting & Tax Services
Are you a highly disciplined Registered Tax Practitioner who thrives in the technical “nitty-gritty” of SARS administration?
An established accounting firm in Brooklyn, Pretoria, is seeking a dedicated Tax Administrator to join their close-knit, healthy, and family-oriented team. This is a crucial role within the firm, designed for a specialist who genuinely enjoys the high-volume, technical nature of tax administration and is looking for long-term consistency.
The Reality of the Role: We are looking for someone who understands that technical tax administration can be repetitive and, at times, frustrating when dealing with external authorities. We need a candidate who views this “monotony” as their area of expertise and takes pride in maintaining a clean, compliant, and efficient tax pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
SARS Administration & Compliance
-
Manage full-function SARS administration and high-volume e-filing.
-
Handle tax registrations, submissions, and complex technical queries.
-
Oversee a shared portfolio of approximately 300 clients within a collaborative 3-person team.
-
Ensure all statutory deadlines are met with absolute precision.
Technical Workflow & Governance
-
Maintain accurate records using Greatsoft (preferred) or similar tax management systems.
-
Ensure all client tax affairs are handled with the highest level of integrity and professional standards.
-
Act as a reliable point of contact for technical tax matters within the accounting team.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications & Certifications:
-
MUST be a Registered Tax Practitioner (Current and in good standing).
-
Degree or Diploma in Accounting/Taxation is preferred but not essential if you have exceptional, proven experience.
Experience & Language:
-
Extensive experience in SARS administration and e-filing.
-
Fluent in Afrikaans (essential for the office environment and client base).
-
Prior experience using Greatsoft is a significant advantage.
Attributes:
-
Resilience: You understand the frustrations of tax admin and remain consistent and productive.
-
Technical Focus: You prefer the “back-office” technical work over high-level consulting.
-
Team Player: You value a “family-like” and healthy office culture.
