Durban: Logistics Business Development Manager

Job Description

This role is suited to a commercially astute, disciplined sales professional who understands international trade, tariff structures, pricing, and client profitability and who values quality business over volume chasing . Key Responsibilities: Acquire new business across Air and Sea Freight Identify, pursue, and close profitable logistics opportunities Cost freight movements and prepare accurate service estimates Present tailored logistics solutions aligned to client needs Facilitate and manage client credit applications Implement and onboard new clients effectively Maintain strong relationships with existing clients Record and manage client information via CRM systems Report accurately on sales activities and pipeline performance Maintain disciplined call ratios and structured sales activity Ensure compliance with quality management and internal processes Minimum Requirements: Matric (essential) Sales & Marketing qualification (NQF Level 5 advantageous) 5 years’ sales experience in a service industry Minimum 3 consecutive years in Clearing & Forwarding Strong working knowledge of: International trade principles Tariff calculations and pricing structures INCOTERMS Carrier and depot conditions of trade CRM systems and MS Office Proven experience in new business acquisition Strong negotiation, presentation, and closing ability The Ideal Candidate: Commercially sharp with strong pricing and margin awareness Disciplined in targeting quality, sustainable clients Confident, persuasive communicator at all levels Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving ability Self-driven, resilient, and comfortable working independently Adaptable in a fast-moving, dynamic logistics environment Customer-centric with a professional, solutions-driven approach Whats on Offer: Competitive remuneration aligned to experience and performance Opportunity to represent a respected global logistics brand Autonomy to build and grow a high-value client portfolio Exposure to complex international logistics operations Long-term career growth for top performers If you are a seasoned clearing and forwarding sales professional ready to elevate your career, this role offers the platform to do so. 📩 Applications are invited from candidates who meet the above criteria.
