Job Description

JOB PURPOSE The Network and Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for supporting, managing and building the operational and project-based infrastructure requirements of the business. Where design and troubleshooting are required on servers, routers, switches and firewalls. The aim of this responsibility is to contribute to the overall business strategy, operations and commercial objectives as required by the objective or project. Utilising the technology tools to effectively manage and control the network, compute infrastructure and security equipment to the benefit of Sentiv. Managing services across the cloud, both public and private. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Which includes but not limited to the following. Implementation of systems in line with the business of the company, Handover of these systems to the team for effective managing and monitoring, where applicable, Monitoring of these systems and applying patches and updates as required, Provide support to other teams with design and troubleshooting, Accelerate network rollout, increase network uptime, optimize network capacity, Implement and recommend changes on the network, server and security infrastructure as required by the business, Engage vendors where necessary to drive improvement or resolution to issues, Deploy new technologies and solutions as suggested or needed by the business, Supporting existing infrastructure operations as required, Maintain and develop the related sets of documentation and diagrams. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Support, maintain and extend networks with advanced network requirements Support, develop and monitor security operations and systems Implement changes, monitoring and testing of backup and DR systems, Collaborate across teams to assist in best practice when designing network, security and compute infrastructure, Support, deploy and secure new infrastructure across cloud and on-prem instances, Maintenance and monitoring of systems and all related infrastructure, Keep up to date on all product, system, industry and legislative changes, Training and mentoring of other teams members, Assist, advise and collaborate on new software development projects as related to IaaS and SaaS projects. ACCOUNTABILITY SLA driven Reports Processes Interaction Managing QUALIFICATIONS Advanced Networking certification, Advanced Security infrastructure certification, System administration certification in Linux and/or Windows environments, Cloud related certification beneficial, Relevant Diploma, Degree or equivalent. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS Extensive knowledge of networking at all layers in the stack. BGP essential, In-depth understanding of security principles and their implementation, Knowledge and understanding of Windows and Linux server technologies, Docker/Kube beneficial. Extensive knowledge and understanding hyperconverged infrastructure across cloud and on-prem, Azure, Hyper-V, Vendor and Service Management, Knowledge and understanding of Critical Communication, radio, transmission beneficial. EXPERIENCE Min 5 years proven experience in advanced networking and design, Min 5 years proven experience in security/firewall administration and design, Min 5 years proven experience system administration, Experience with Azure services and Hyper-V clusters, Knowledge and understanding storage systems, SAN, NAS, iSCSI, Proven track record in developing, defining, documenting and implementing of systems as defined.
