Job Description
A leading Credit Risk Management company is looking for a commercially astute Senior Debt Recovery Specialist to join their team in Cape Town. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a BCom or LLB qualification to drive results by balancing human insight with automation to improve customer cashflow. The role requires a professional capable of managing legal files, conducting debtor risk assessments, and navigating complex business rescue or liquidation processes. Responsibilities:
- Proactively recover outstanding debt using various strategic approaches to improve customer cashflow.
- Provide guidance to the credit risk team and support Credit Risk Advisors.
- Manage legal files, comply with insurer deadlines, and oversee formal attorney handovers.
- Contact debtors telephonically to establish payment ability and negotiate settlements.
- Analyse legal documentation to identify strengths or weaknesses affecting the collection process.
- Conduct on-site debtor visits and assess the viability of business rescue or liquidation plans.
- Maintain real-time records in the operating system and produce monthly collection reports for clients.
- Maintain regular communication with attorneys, credit insurers, liquidators, and clients.
Requirements:
- Possess a BCom or LLB qualification.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Apply an understanding of basic accounting principles and annual financial statements.
- Maintain knowledge of the legal process, including timeframes and operational procedures.
- Display a functional understanding of business rescue and liquidation processes.
- Apply an understanding of credit insurance timelines, deadlines, and claim lodgement.
- Utilize knowledge of the law governing business rescue to negotiate terms for clients.
- Execute formal attorney handovers with all required supporting documentation.
