About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Executive Chef to lead our luxury safari camp’s kitchen in the Masai Mara, Kenya. As an integral part of our team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional guest dining experiences, managing a talented culinary team, and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and presentation in a luxury safari environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, hygiene, and presentation
  • Actively prepare and supervise food production across all services
  • Deliver exceptional guest-facing culinary experiences
  • Manage a team of 12 staff, including training, mentoring, and performance management
  • Oversee stock control, inventory, and procurement to minimise waste and optimise costs
  • Develop and maintain creative and consistent menus
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and operational standards
  • Monitor and control food costs in line with budgets
  • Maintain a positive and productive kitchen culture, fostering teamwork and motivation

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Executive Chef in a luxury hospitality environment, preferably within a safari lodge or camp
  • Strong culinary and management skills, capable of leading a large kitchen team
  • Hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail and creativity
  • Guest-focused with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Experience in stock control, inventory management, and food cost optimisation

Qualifications

  • Formal education/certifications (e.g. Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent)

Salary & Benefits

  • USD 3,500 – USD 4,000 NETT
