About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Stable Manager to join our luxury private game reserve in the Northern Cape. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the care, training, and welfare of horses while supporting exceptional guest riding experiences in a luxury safari environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily care, feeding, grooming, and exercise of all horses
- Develop and implement training programs for horses and riders
- Supervise and manage stable staff, ensuring high standards of animal care and performance
- Maintain stables, paddocks, and associated facilities in excellent condition
- Manage inventory of feed, equipment, and supplies, including ordering and stock control
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and welfare standards for both horses and staff
- Coordinate guest riding activities, ensuring safety and exceptional experiences
- Maintain records of horse health, training progress, and maintenance schedules
- Assist with breeding, veterinary care, and farrier schedules where required
- Provide mentoring and training for junior stable staff
Requirements
- Proven experience managing stables in a lodge, game reserve, or equestrian environment
- Strong equestrian skills and knowledge of horse training, care, and welfare
- Leadership and staff management experience
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a remote environment
- Must hold a valid drivers licence
