Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-driven Fleet & Distribution Controller to join our team at Frozen Food Distributors. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for controlling and coordinating fleet and distribution operations, ensuring seamless day-to-day activities and maintaining high standards of compliance and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy, compliant, and serviced as scheduled.
  • Oversee inspections, preventative maintenance, breakdowns, and repairs, ensuring timely completion.
  • Control DRS (fault reporting) and monitor closure of defects.
  • Verify vehicle licensing, COFs, and driver compliance (PDPs, medicals).
  • Maintain accurate fleet and distribution records, reporting, and operational dashboards.
  • Allocate vehicles and drivers daily based on operational requirements.
  • Brief drivers before dispatch and debrief after completion to monitor route and delivery performance.
  • Track deliveries in real time, follow up on delays, and escalate issues as required.
  • Maintain daily Vehicle Availability Schedule (VAS) and communicate to operations.
  • Monitor supplier performance and repair turnaround times.
  • Act as the operational link between drivers, fleet, and operations.
  • Ensure yard operations, including parking, truck wash, and compliance, meet standards.
  • Review, verify, and raised credit notes and stock return reports.
  • Handle escalations regarding driver performance, discipline, and operational issues.
  • Ensure audit-ready documentation for inspections, services, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify recurring operational issues and recommend process improvements.
