About the Role
We are seeking a qualified South African financial accountant with hotel experience to join our team at C & G Hospitality Recruitment T/A Hotelrecruiters in Sandton. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls for our premier hospitality management group.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive monthly management accounts, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
- Execute month-end close processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and depreciation.
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger.
- Produce detailed weekly and monthly financial insights for the executive team.
- Verify daily revenue reports from PMS and POS systems (Opera, Micros, GAAP, etc.).
- Review room revenue, F&B income, and banqueting/events billing.
- Monitor cost of sales and inventory movements for food, beverage, and consumables.
- Lead stock-take procedures and perform rigorous variance analysis.
- Oversee Accounts Payable, ensuring accurate processing of supplier invoices, POs, and GRNs.
- Manage Accounts Receivable, including billing, credit control, and debt collection.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations while monitoring liquidity.
- Enforce strict cash-handling procedures across all departments (Front Office, Bars, Restaurants).
- Prepare and submit VAT calculations and statutory returns.
- Ensure full compliance with hospitality-specific financial regulations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Progress toward or completion of SAIPA, SAICA, or ACCA is highly advantageous.
- 2–4 years of post-qualification accounting experience.
- Proven experience within the hospitality industry (hotels, resorts, or restaurant groups) is strongly preferred.
