About the Role
The Western Cape-based R&D Project Engineer (Production Technology) will design and develop automated production systems and workflows for improved efficiency and scalability, integrating robotics and factory automation solutions to drive process engineering initiatives. The successful candidate will lead pilot testing, commissioning, and implementation of new technologies, creating SOPs and technical documentation for factory deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop automated production systems and workflows for improved efficiency and scalability
- Integrate robotics and factory automation solutions for repetitive manufacturing processes
- Optimize production machinery, including CNC equipment and assembly systems
- Drive process engineering initiatives, including DfMA and production flow improvements
- Develop tooling, jigs, and fixtures to support automated manufacturing
- Lead pilot testing, commissioning, and implementation of new technologies
- Create SOPs and technical documentation for factory deployment
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate automation with digital systems
Requirements
- Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in manufacturing, factory automation, or process engineering
- Strong understanding of automation systems, robotics, and PLC programming
- Experience with CAD/CAM tools (e.g. SolidWorks, Fusion 360)
- Knowledge of production optimization, machinery integration, and workflow design
- Hands-on approach with the ability to troubleshoot and improve factory systems
- Programming exposure (Python, C++ or similar) is advantageous
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
