Job Description

About the Role

The Eleconop 2 (Lifting & Foundry) role at Greys Recruitment is a critical position that requires a skilled and experienced individual to oversee electroplating processes, maintain equipment, and ensure quality control standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

Operate electroplating baths and related equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Prepare components for plating (cleaning, masking, jigging, and racking)
Monitor plating parameters such as temperature, current, voltage, and chemical levels
Conduct basic chemical additions and maintain bath composition under supervision
Inspect plated components to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications
Record production data, process readings, and quality results accurately
Identify defects or non-conformances and report to the supervisor
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and work areas
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
Assist with stock control of chemicals and consumables
Support continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives
Routine Inspections: Conduct daily and weekly “first-line” inspections of overhead cranes, hoists, and slings to identify wear and tear.
Electrical Maintenance: Replace and repair common electrical components, including contactors, limit switches, pendants, and carbon brushes.
Mechanical Support: Assist with the lubrication of wire ropes, gearboxes, and wheel bearings to prevent equipment seizure.
Fault Finding: Perform basic diagnostic checks on motor control circuits and 3-phase systems to minimize production downtime.
Safety & Housekeeping: Ensure all lifting tackle is stored correctly and that work areas in the high-heat zones are kept clear of electrical hazards.

Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric
1–3 years’ experience in an electroplating or manufacturing environment
Basic understanding of electroplating processes and chemicals
Ability to read and interpret job cards, work instructions, and specifications
Knowledge of plating processes (e.g., zinc, nickel, chrome plating)
Understanding of quality control standards and inspection techniques
Basic knowledge of chemical handling and safety procedures
Ability to use measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, thickness gauges)

Qualifications
