About the Role
The Eleconop 2 (Lifting & Foundry) role at Greys Recruitment is a critical position that requires a skilled and experienced individual to oversee electroplating processes, maintain equipment, and ensure quality control standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate electroplating baths and related equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Prepare components for plating (cleaning, masking, jigging, and racking)
- Monitor plating parameters such as temperature, current, voltage, and chemical levels
- Conduct basic chemical additions and maintain bath composition under supervision
- Inspect plated components to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications
- Record production data, process readings, and quality results accurately
- Identify defects or non-conformances and report to the supervisor
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and work areas
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Assist with stock control of chemicals and consumables
- Support continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives
- Routine Inspections: Conduct daily and weekly “first-line” inspections of overhead cranes, hoists, and slings to identify wear and tear.
- Electrical Maintenance: Replace and repair common electrical components, including contactors, limit switches, pendants, and carbon brushes.
- Mechanical Support: Assist with the lubrication of wire ropes, gearboxes, and wheel bearings to prevent equipment seizure.
- Fault Finding: Perform basic diagnostic checks on motor control circuits and 3-phase systems to minimize production downtime.
- Safety & Housekeeping: Ensure all lifting tackle is stored correctly and that work areas in the high-heat zones are kept clear of electrical hazards.
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- 1–3 years’ experience in an electroplating or manufacturing environment
- Basic understanding of electroplating processes and chemicals
- Ability to read and interpret job cards, work instructions, and specifications
- Knowledge of plating processes (e.g., zinc, nickel, chrome plating)
- Understanding of quality control standards and inspection techniques
- Basic knowledge of chemical handling and safety procedures
- Ability to use measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, thickness gauges)
Qualifications
N3–N6 Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or a recognized internal “Eleconop” certification.
