About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Artisanal Baker with a strong focus on laminated dough production to join our team in Somerset West. As a key member of our bakery, you will be responsible for ensuring consistent quality, efficient workflow, and adherence to high artisanal standards. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and execute daily baking production, with a focus on laminated dough and medialunas
- Ensure consistency, quality, and presentation across all batches
- Manage and guide a small production team within the bakery
- Monitor and control proofing, fermentation, and baking processes
- Maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety
- Take ownership of production planning and output to meet daily demand
- Troubleshoot baking issues and adjust processes where necessary
- Ensure efficient workflow within early morning production schedule
Requirements
- Previous experience working with laminated dough in a professional bakery environment advantageous
- Strong understanding of proofing, fermentation, and baking techniques
- Proven ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced production setting
- Experience managing or supervising a small team
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality and perfection
- Reliable, consistent, and able to take full ownership of responsibilities
- Comfortable working early morning shifts (03:00 – 13:00, Tuesday to Sunday)
- Own reliable transport essential due to early start time
