About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Financial Accountant to join our finance team on a 6-month temp contract with the option to apply for a permanent role at Sygnia Asset Management in Cape Town. As Financial Accountant, you will play a key role in all aspects of the finance function and will report to the Head of Finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and prepare financial statements up to trial balance.
- Ensure income and expenses are recorded appropriately and allocated to the correct cost centres.
- Prepare monthly management accounts.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and applicable financial regulations.
- Assist with the monthly financial close process.
- Detailed review and analysis of balance sheet accounts and reconciliations to month end reporting.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank, creditors, and debtors, prepaid expenses etc.
- Process journals, accruals, and adjustments as needed.
- Manage VAT, Income Tax, and Provisional Tax calculations and submissions via SARS eFiling.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with SARS regulations and liaise with tax authorities when necessary.
- Stay up to date with tax legislation and regulatory changes affecting the business.
Requirements
- Completed SAIPA or SAICA articles.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in financial accounting, with exposure to trial balance.
- Strong taxation experience including VAT, Income Tax and SARS eFiling.
- Excellent understanding of general ledger reconciliations.
- Experience working with SAGE Evolution.
- Proficiency in MS Excel.
