About the Role

Our client is a reputable and long-standing organisation within the FMCG and manufacturing sector, known for producing a wide range of trusted household and personal care products distributed across South Africa. They are seeking a Cost Accountant to support the finance and operations teams by delivering accurate costing, margin analysis, and financial insights.

Key Responsibilities

Analyse and monitor product costing, including raw materials, labour, and overheads
Prepare and maintain standard costing models and ensure regular updates
Conduct variance analysis (material, labour, overheads) and provide actionable insights
Partner with operations to identify cost-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements
Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, particularly around production costs
Monitor inventory valuation, stock movements, and cost of goods sold
Support month-end processes, including journals, reconciliations, and reporting
Provide margin analysis and profitability reporting across product lines
Ensure accuracy and integrity of cost data within the ERP system
Assist with audits and ensure compliance with financial controls and procedures
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

BCom degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 35 years experience in a costing or manufacturing finance role
Strong understanding of standard costing and variance analysis
Experience within FMCG, manufacturing, or production environments is highly advantageous
Advanced Excel skills and strong data analysis capabilities
