About the Role
Our client is a reputable and long-standing organisation within the FMCG and manufacturing sector, known for producing a wide range of trusted household and personal care products distributed across South Africa. They are seeking a Cost Accountant to support the finance and operations teams by delivering accurate costing, margin analysis, and financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and monitor product costing, including raw materials, labour, and overheads
- Prepare and maintain standard costing models and ensure regular updates
- Conduct variance analysis (material, labour, overheads) and provide actionable insights
- Partner with operations to identify cost-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, particularly around production costs
- Monitor inventory valuation, stock movements, and cost of goods sold
- Support month-end processes, including journals, reconciliations, and reporting
- Provide margin analysis and profitability reporting across product lines
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of cost data within the ERP system
- Assist with audits and ensure compliance with financial controls and procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- BCom degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 35 years experience in a costing or manufacturing finance role
- Strong understanding of standard costing and variance analysis
- Experience within FMCG, manufacturing, or production environments is highly advantageous
- Advanced Excel skills and strong data analysis capabilities
