Pretoria: Cost Accountant

About the Role

Our client is a reputable and long-standing organisation within the FMCG and manufacturing sector, known for producing a wide range of trusted household and personal care products distributed across South Africa. They are seeking a Cost Accountant to support the finance and operations teams by delivering accurate costing, margin analysis, and financial insights.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse and monitor product costing, including raw materials, labour, and overheads
  • Prepare and maintain standard costing models and ensure regular updates
  • Conduct variance analysis (material, labour, overheads) and provide actionable insights
  • Partner with operations to identify cost-saving initiatives and efficiency improvements
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, particularly around production costs
  • Monitor inventory valuation, stock movements, and cost of goods sold
  • Support month-end processes, including journals, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Provide margin analysis and profitability reporting across product lines
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of cost data within the ERP system
  • Assist with audits and ensure compliance with financial controls and procedures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • BCom degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 35 years experience in a costing or manufacturing finance role
  • Strong understanding of standard costing and variance analysis
  • Experience within FMCG, manufacturing, or production environments is highly advantageous
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong data analysis capabilities
