About the Role
Our client, a leading supplier of building products based in Bloemfontein, is seeking a reliable and customer-focused Cashier to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling transactions efficiently, providing excellent customer service, and ensuring a smooth and accurate checkout process.
Key Responsibilities
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale (POS) system
- Manage cash, card, and electronic payments in line with company procedures
- Provide friendly, professional customer service at all times
- Issue receipts, invoices, and refunds where applicable
- Perform daily cash-ups and ensure balances are accurate
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure checkout area
- Assist customers with queries, pricing, and basic product information
- Follow company policies, procedures, and security standards
- Report discrepancies, shortages, or system issues to management promptly
- Support the store team during busy trading periods when required
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate or equivalent
- Previous retail or cashier experience preferred, minimum of 2 years’ experience
- Basic numeracy skills for handling transactions and cash-ups
- Reliable, trustworthy, and punctual
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office and IQ Retail
- Ability to operate point-of-sale (POS) systems and handle cash, card, and electronic payments
