About the Role
We are seeking a skilled CNC lathe machinist to join our team in Boksburg, responsible for taking ownership of the full machining process from reading drawings to final part inspection. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to optimize cycle times and machining processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, set, and operate CNC lathes independently
- Select tooling, speeds, and feeds based on material and tolerance
- Perform setups including chucking, tooling, and offsets
- Optimize cycle times and machining processes
- Monitor quality and maintain tight tolerances
- Troubleshoot machining issues (chatter, tool wear, dimensional drift)
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace
Requirements
- Good knowledge of CNC machines, including Goodway, Feeler, Hurco VM10i, Hurco VM20i, and VICTOR V Centre
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Qualifications
- Formal education in a relevant field (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology)
- Relevant experience as a CNC lathe machinist or similar role
