Job Description

To deliver accredited mining training and assessments in line with MHSA (Mine Health and Safety Act) requirements, ensuring employees achieve and maintain Competency A and Competency B standards. The role focuses on safety compliance, operational efficiency, and workforce development within underground and/or surface gold mining operations. Key Responsibilities Facilitate and assess training for Competency A (entry-level mining operations) and Competency B (advanced operational and supervisory competency). Conduct theoretical and practical training sessions in accordance with MQA unit standards and mine-specific procedures. Ensure all training complies with the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), MQA standards, and company policies. Perform workplace assessments and evaluate operator competence in line with legal requirements. Maintain accurate training records, attendance registers, and assessment documentation for audit purposes. Prepare training material, lesson plans, and assessment tools aligned to operational requirements. Conduct safety inductions, refresher training, and toolbox talks where required. Identify skills gaps and recommend corrective training interventions. Support mining supervisors and management with competency compliance reporting. Ensure continuous improvement of training methodologies and safety culture on site. Grade 12 (Matric). Recognised Assessor and Moderator certification (advantageous). Registered with the MQA (Mining Qualifications Authority) as a Facilitator/Assessor. Competency A & Competency B certification (Gold Mining environment). Minimum 5 years mining experience (underground gold mining preferred). Strong knowledge of MHSA and mining safety regulations. Computer literate (MS Office and training record systems).
