About the Role
The Banking and Debtors Clerk role in Cape Town City Centre involves managing and reconciling multi-currency bank accounts, optimizing balances, and supporting accurate daily and month-end cashbook processing. The successful candidate will be responsible for reconciling client receipts, processing supplier and creditor payments accurately and on time, managing debtor accounts, and maintaining accurate cashbooks.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and reconciling multi-currency bank accounts
- Optimizing balances
- Supporting accurate daily and month-end cashbook processing
- Reconciling client receipts (bank, credit card, SWIFT)
- Processing supplier and creditor payments accurately and on time
- Managing debtor accounts, age analysis, suspense accounts, refunds, and queries
- Maintaining accurate cashbooks and ensuring all banking transactions are recorded correctly
- Processing client refunds across systems correctly
- Overseeing petty cash, cash cards, journals, and VAT claims
- Preparing monthly MIS reports including cash flow, bank charges, debtor age analysis, refunds, and suspense accounts
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of banking and debtors experience
- Exposure to travel industry
- Strong accounting knowledge
- Knowledge of the South African Reserve Bank regulations (advantageous)
- Experience in dealing with foreign currencies
- Sage 300 Accpac knowledge (advantageous)
- Strong Excel skills
- Computer skills, MS Office, Standard Bank Business Online
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven coaching and mentoring skills (advantageous)
Qualifications
BCom Accounting (or similar)
