About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technologist to join our team at the VUKA Research Clinic in Khayelitsha, Cape Town City Centre. As a Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in supporting high-quality laboratory processes that underpin reliable research outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Performing protocol-required and clinically indicated laboratory assays
- Receiving, processing, and preparing specimens with precision
- Managing the storage, shipping, and tracking samples
- Ensuring timely and accurate documentation and reporting of results
- Supporting data quality through query resolution and record-keeping
- Maintaining laboratory equipment, consumables, and stock levels
- Following and upholding strict laboratory safety and compliance standards
- Collaborating with clinical teams, labs, and study stakeholders
Requirements
- Qualification as a Laboratory Technologist (BTech / BSc Medical Bioscience or equivalent)
- Active HPCSA registration
- At least 1 year of laboratory experience (clinical, research, or academic)
- Current SA-GCP certification
- Strong organisational, numeracy, and communication skills
- Confidence working with data and maintaining confidentiality
