About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a professional, experienced and proactive News Editor to join a dynamic media team in Cape Town City Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high editorial standards, ensuring the accuracy and quality of news bulletins, leading the news team, and supporting the continued growth and development of the newsroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the quality control of news bulletins to ensure accuracy, fairness and strong editorial standards
- Research, identify and develop newsworthy stories, current affairs topics and relevant trends
- Anchor and present news bulletins when required
- Manage, supervise and support the daily activities of the news team
- Identify training and development needs within the news team
- Ensure all news content complies with journalism law, regulations and ethical standards
- Contribute to the delivery of high-quality news content across on-air and digital platforms
Requirements
- Journalism Diploma or Degree is essential
- Minimum of 4-5 years’ journalism experience
- Previous supervisory or management-level experience
- Valid driver’s licence
- Strong knowledge of journalism law, regulations and editorial best practice
- Experience using Burli or equivalent electronic audio gathering and editing software
