About the Role

The Site Manager position at WastePlan’s Cape Town City Centre is a critical role that requires exceptional management skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing the commercial site, ensuring effective control and management of the site, and implementing the service level agreement with clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the service level agreement of the client is implemented and maintained.
  • Assume overall responsibility for the site including night shifts.
  • Determine all activities of the Night Shift Supervisor.
  • Arrange for the appointed Zero Waste Officer to mutually function as “relievers” for each other and cover days off in a seven-day week cycle.
  • Oversee and be responsible for the activities of the Zero Waste Officer.
  • Resolve any issues raised by the Zero Waste Officer regarding contamination or recyclable materials identified in residual waste.
  • Manage the performance of all staff allocated to the site including attendance, speed, and accuracy of sorting.
  • Ensure achievement of financial budgetary targets set by the Operations Manager of the site.
  • Ensure correct use of all operational systems provided by all staff employed at the site.
  • Ensure that necessary procurement, maintenance, and utilization of equipment and consumables needed for the site is conducted on time as per WastePlan’s procurement procedure.
  • Ensure that site hygiene is maintained to agreed standards.
  • Ensure that all staff on site are fully trained and operate according to stipulated safety standards.

Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Experience in the waste management or recycling industry
  • Valid driver’s licence
