About the Role
Smarter Rent Ltd, a UK-based property management company, is seeking a Finance Assistant to join our small remote team. As a key member of our finance function, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for our clients. With a portfolio of 130 properties, we manage finances across multiple landlord accounts, and this role sits at the centre of our current operations and upcoming system migration.
Key Responsibilities
- Process income from short-term booking platforms and direct bookings, reconciling net and gross receipts across multiple landlord accounts
- Maintain accurate purchase and sales ledgers
- Perform regular bank and platform reconciliations
- Post payments and allocate receipts across the correct client accounts
- Prepare owner statements in line with our reporting cycle
- Handle supplier invoice processing and payments
- Manage the finance inbox, responding to queries promptly and accurately
- Support the migration to our new property management system
- Maintain clean, audit-ready records at all times
- Spot inefficiencies and bring ideas for how to improve them
Requirements
- At least 2 years’ experience in a bookkeeping, accounts assistant, or finance assistant role
- Confident working in Xero (essential)
- Comfortable learning new systems quickly
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine commitment to accuracy
- Able to manage your own workload and meet deadlines without being chased
- A problem-solver when something doesn’t reconcile, you dig into it
- Proactive and not afraid to suggest a better way of doing things
