About the Role
Our client is a well-established organisation that delivers reliable and secure technology solutions to its clients. They are expanding their technical team and are looking for a Systems Engineer (Unix/Solaris/Connect:Direct environments) to support, maintain, and optimise their core infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain UNIX and Solaris operating systems, including patching, updates, and system monitoring
- Administer and configure Connect:Direct (NDM) environments for secure file transfer operations
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform performance tuning
- Manage user access, roles, permissions, and compliance with security policies
- Develop and execute backup and recovery plans to ensure system availability
- Maintain technical documentation and produce operational reports
Requirements
- Education: Relevant IT qualification
- UNIX / Solaris certification (minimum requirement)
- Experience: 5+ years experience in a Systems Engineer or systems administration role
- Hands-on experience in UNIX and Solaris environments
- Proven experience with Connect:Direct or similar file transfer technologies
- Experience working in enterprise or production environments
- Skills:
- UNIX and Solaris systems administration
- Connect:Direct administration (advantageous)
- Scripting skills (Shell, Perl or similar)
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and security protocols
- Backup and recovery solutions experience
