Claims Manager
A reputable and well-established short-term insurance provider is seeking a highly skilled and analytical Claims Manager to oversee their claims department. This role is ideal for a seasoned insurance professional with deep expertise in personal and commercial lines, strong technical litigation knowledge, and a proven track record of handling complex or high-value claims efficiently.
Key Performance Areas:

Claims Operations Oversight: Manage and streamline the end-to-end claims lifecycle for personal lines, commercial lines, and niche insurance portfolios.

Complex & High-Value Claims: Evaluate, investigate, and authorize large or complex claims, ensuring accurate reserving and minimizing leakage.

Litigation & Dispute Management: Oversee claims heading into legal processes, managing relationships with legal advisors, and resolving technical disputes or complaints.

Vendor & Service Provider Management: Monitor the performance of external assessors, investigators, and repair networks to ensure high-quality, cost-effective service delivery.

Compliance & Mandate Enforcement: Ensure all claims processing strictly adheres to internal mandates, service level agreements (SLAs), and statutory insurance regulations.

Team Leadership: Provide guidance, technical support, and mentorship to junior claims technicians and administrators.
Minimum Requirements:

Professional Qualifications: * Successful completion of the Regulatory Examination for Representatives (RE5).

Full FAIS compliance status (credits aligned with short-term insurance mandates).

A recognized qualification in Short-Term Insurance (NQF Level 4 or higher / COP / ICI).

Professional Experience: * Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience within a short-term insurance claims environment.

Proven experience managing or supervising a claims team or a complex technical portfolio.

Strong experience dealing with litigation, repudiations, and high-value commercial settlements.

Technical Skills: * In-depth knowledge of policy wordings, underwriting principles, and the short-term insurance legal framework.

Proficiency in standard insurance management systems and Microsoft Office.

Attributes: Exceptional negotiation skills, strong conflict resolution capabilities, and meticulous attention to detail.
