About the Role
Hire Resolve’s sporty client is seeking a Social Media Manager to join their team. As a key member of the social media department, you will be responsible for planning, publishing, and optimizing content across multiple platforms to grow audience, drive engagement, and deepen the club’s cultural and community relevance.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Management & Content Execution:
- Own daily publishing and channel management across all client’s social media platforms.
- Lead real-time content execution for matchdays, training, and club events.
- Schedule, post, and monitor content using relevant social media tools.
- Maintain a consistent, platform-appropriate client’s brand voice.
- Content Planning & Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the Head of Social on weekly/monthly content calendars.
- Work with creative, video, photography, and copy teams to develop high-quality content.
- Ensure content aligns with brand campaigns, marketing priorities, and commercial activations.
- Contribute to planning meetings to shape channel strategy.
- Matchday & Live Coverage:
- Lead social content execution on matchdays (home and away) across all platforms.
- Coordinate with production teams for real-time live and near-live content capture and publishing.
- Deliver engaging matchday coverage that is informative, entertaining, and emotionally resonant.
- Player-Driven & Reactive Content:
- Support the ‘Players First’ strategy by creating and amplifying content showcasing player personalities.
- Identify and leverage culturally relevant/reactive moments to engage fans.
- Collaborate with players and their teams on co-publishing opportunities.
- Community Engagement & Fan Interaction:
- Engage with fans daily by responding to comments and fostering positive online communities.
- Highlight the fan voice through UGC and supporter stories.
- Collaborate with CRM and ticketing teams to drive campaign engagement and conversion.
- Insights, Reporting & Optimization:
- Track content performance metrics (views, saves, shares, sentiment, engagement).
- Use analytics to inform content decisions and share learnings with the team.
- Assist the Head of Social in identifying trends, testing formats, and optimizing strategy based on platform updates.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in a related field.
- 2-4 years managing social media for a brand, team, or publisher (ideally in sport, entertainment, or youth culture).
- In-depth knowledge of platform mechanics, trends, and formats (TikTok, Instagram, X/Twitter, YouTube, etc.).
- Strong experience with live event coverage and real-time publishing.
- Solid copywriting and visual storytelling skills with a strong understanding of effective content.
- Passion for sport, fan culture, and digital community building.
- Experience using social media publishing and analytics tools (e.g., Emplifi, CrowdTangle, native insights).
- Ability to remain calm and effective in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
Desirable
- Previous experience in rugby or elite-level sport.
- Familiarity with Adobe tools, Canva, or mobile editing apps.
- Understanding of player marketing, fan personas, and club culture.
- Confidence working with athletes or high-profile personalities.
