About the Role

We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and guest-focused Field Guide to join our luxury safari tented camp. As a key member of our team, you will lead game drives and bush experiences while ensuring guest safety, comfort, and exceptional service throughout their stay. If you share our passion for the bush and commitment to creating unforgettable safari experiences, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct interpretive game drives and bush experiences in a safe and professional manner
  • Share knowledge of wildlife, ecology, birdlife, and the surrounding environment with guests
  • Deliver engaging and memorable safari experiences tailored to guest interests
  • Ensure guest safety at all times during activities
  • Assist with hosting guests and maintaining a high standard of hospitality
  • Communicate effectively with lodge operations and other departments
  • Maintain vehicles, guiding equipment, and field gear to a high standard
  • Assist with conservation initiatives, wildlife monitoring, and reserve protocols where required
  • Support lodge operations and contribute to a positive team environment

Requirements

  • FGASA qualification
  • Valid PDP (Professional Driving Permit)
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Valid First Aid certification
  • Previous guiding experience within a luxury lodge or safari environment
  • Excellent knowledge of wildlife, birdlife, and the bushveld ecosystem
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills
  • Passion for conservation and guest education

As a Junior Field Guide, you will be immersed in an authentic bush experience, combining exceptional wildlife encounters with warm, personalised hospitality.

  • Assist with conducting daily game drives and bush walks under the guidance of senior guides
  • Engage with guests, sharing knowledge of wildlife, nature, and the surrounding environment
  • Ensure guest safety and comfort at all times during activities
  • Support with vehicle checks, maintenance, and guiding equipment upkeep
  • Assist with tracking wildlife and contributing to sightings records
  • Provide support with lodge operations when required, including guest hosting
  • Uphold lodge standards and contribute to a high-quality guest experience
