About the Role
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Transport Controller to join our team in Durban South. As a key member of our logistics operation, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of our trucks and drivers, ensuring timely deliveries and resolving any issues that arise. Key Responsibilities
- Check update from previous shift and plan the days truck and driver requirements
- Push trucks in the yard out for the day and divert to workshop if necessary
- Send National tracking to Clients Send Local tracking to Mills (2 hour intervals)
- Reply to Clients mails and attend to queries
- Monitor stack dates for vessels and plan empty container collections with sub-contractors and ASL trucks
- Send updates to sub-contractors and clients with regards to full containers to Terminal when stacks are firm
- Issue Order numbers
- Collect documents
- Follow up with drivers on the road to make sure all in order.
- Plan for the next shift if needed
- Send out update to all relevant parties to close off the shift
Requirements
- 1-2 years proven work experience as a Transport Controller or similar role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (2 Years)
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
- Excellent organizational and decision making skills
- Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Attention to detail
- Grade 12
- Able to work day and night shift (3 shift system)
