Job Description

Operations Manager Role Purpose The purpose of this role is to oversee, manage, and optimise all operational activities across the business to ensure efficient execution, consistency, and alignment with strategic objectives. The Operations Manager is responsible for translating strategy into execution, improving operational performance, and ensuring teams, processes, and resources work effectively together. Key Responsibilities Operations Management – Oversee day-to-day operational activities across projects and business functions – Ensure operational plans are executed on time, within scope, and within budget – Develop, implement, and continuously improve operational processes and systems – Ensure alignment between operations, finance, sales, and project teams – Monitor operational performance and address risks, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies People & Team Leadership – Lead, manage, and support operational teams to ensure accountability and performance – Define roles, responsibilities, and reporting structures clearly – Provide guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to team members – Ensure adequate resourcing and capacity planning across teams – Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement Planning, Scheduling & Resource Management – Oversee project planning, scheduling, and prioritisation across operations – Ensure effective allocation of people, equipment, and resources – Balance short-term operational needs with longer-term planning requirements – Support escalation and decision-making where priorities conflict Cost Control & Performance Management – Manage operational budgets and cost control in collaboration with finance – Monitor operational KPIs, margins, and productivity metrics – Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and increase output – Ensure operational decisions support overall business profitability Systems, Processes & Compliance – Ensure operational processes are documented, followed, and continuously improved – Oversee compliance with company policies, health and safety standards, and regulations – Support implementation and optimisation of operational systems and tools – Ensure accurate operational reporting and data integrity Communication & Stakeholder Management – Act as a key link between leadership, operations, and support functions – Communicate priorities, changes, and expectations clearly to teams – Provide regular operational updates and insights to management – Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships as required Required Skills & Experience – 58 years experience in an operations or operational management role – Proven experience managing teams and cross-functional operations – Strong planning, organisational, and execution skills – Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment – Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability – Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) – Proficient in operational reporting, budgeting, and performance tracking Personal Attributes – Highly organised and structured – Strong leadership presence and accountability mindset – Proactive, solution-driven, and resilient under pressure – Able to balance detail with big-picture thinking – Comfortable making decisions and taking ownership Reporting Line Reports to: Managing Director / General Manager Role Focus This is a senior operational role with a strong execution and leadership focus, suited to a candidate who enjoys building structure, leading teams, improving processes, and driving consistent operational performance across the business.
