Job Description

A boutique 5-star hotel in the Eastern Cape is seeking an experienced Hotel Operations Manager to support the General Manager in the day-to-day running of the hotel . This is a hands-on, senior operational role requiring strong leadership, excellent Front Office expertise, and well-rounded hotel experience across all departments. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring seamless daily operations, exceptional guest experiences, and consistent service standards in a refined, intimate hotel environment. Accommodation is provided. Core Requirements Candidates must meet the following criteria: Proven experience as a Hotel Operations Manager, Rooms Division Manager, or Senior Duty Manager Strong Front Office background within boutique 5-star or luxury hotel environments Solid all-round hotel operational experience (Front Office, Housekeeping, Guest Services, F&B interface) Experience working closely with a General Manager in daily hotel operations Strong understanding of 5-star service standards and personalised guest experiences Willingness to work shifts ; including weekends and public holidays South African ID Matric (Grade 12) Relevant Hotel / Hospitality Management qualification Confident leadership, strong communication, and excellent organisational skills Role Overview Assist the General Manager with the daily operation of the hotel Ensure smooth coordination between Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, and Maintenance Maintain consistent service delivery aligned to boutique 5-star standards Oversee guest experience, VIP handling, and service recovery Conduct Duty Manager shifts and act as senior management on duty when required Support staffing, rosters, performance management, and team development Monitor operational standards, presentation, and guest feedback Assist with implementing operational procedures and continuous improvement initiatives Ideal Profile Highly hands-on and operationally strong Calm; polished, and confident in guest-facing situations Detail-oriented with a strong sense of ownership Comfortable working in a close-knit, boutique hotel team Passionate about hospitality excellence and leadership development This role is ideal for a strong all-round hotel operator looking to step into a senior leadership position within a boutique 5-star environment.
