About the Role

TalentFuse (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced DTP/Finished Artist to join our team in Gauteng. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for translating design concepts into accurate print-ready artwork and ensuring seamless collaboration with designers, printers, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate design concepts into accurate, print-ready artwork
  • Set up and manage dielines across packaging formats (cartons, labels, tubes, etc.)
  • Ensure all files meet print specifications (colour, bleed, resolution, finishes, substrates)
  • Prepare artwork for both local and international production, including China-based suppliers
  • Liaise with printers and suppliers to ensure correct output and resolve issues
  • Manage Pantones, colour consistency, and print finishes (foiling, embossing, varnishes, etc.)
  • Prepare additional print materials such as business cards and brand collateral
  • Conduct detailed preflight checks and quality control on all artwork

Process & Systems (A Key Focus Area)

  • Establish and refine file structures, naming conventions, and version control
  • Build templates to improve consistency across projects
  • Introduce checklists and workflows to reduce errors and improve sign-off
  • Contribute to a more structured, reliable production process

Team Contribution

  • Support designers in understanding print production and finished art requirements
  • Troubleshoot design files and recommend practical production solutions
  • Act as the link between design and production
  • Bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset to the team

Requirements

  • Mid to senior experience in a DTP / Finished Artist role
  • Strong background in packaging design and print production
  • Solid understanding of:
  • Printing processes (litho, digital, etc.)
  • Packaging materials and substrates
  • Print finishes (foiling, embossing, varnishes, coatings)
  • Experience working with international suppliers (advantageous)
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work methodically under pressure
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence to guide and advise

Technical Skills

  • Advanced: Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Photoshop
  • Working knowledge of Excel (for specs, tracking, and documentation)

Nice to Have

  • Experience with packaging sourced from China
  • Exposure to workflow or automation tools in print/production
