About the Role
We are seeking a Utilities Assistant to join our team in Midrand, Gauteng. As a key member of our property management company, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our industrial and commercial properties, including utilities management and maintenance planning. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct electricity and water meter readings across multiple properties
- Capture and maintain accurate consumption data on MDA or similar systems
- Monitor usage trends and identify irregularities
- Support generator and backup system monitoring
- Assist with reporting and data analysis
- Act as first point of contact for tenant utility-related queries
- Assist in resolving electricity and water issues
- Communicate planned outages and maintenance schedules
- Draft professional tenant correspondence
- Assist with maintenance planning and scheduling
- Track breakdowns and follow up on repairs
- Support emergency incidents such as power failures and water leaks
- Track compliance certificates, inspections, and service records
- Assist during audits and site inspections
- Ensure accurate recordkeeping and task tracking
- Support reporting and operational documentation
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in property, facilities, utilities, or building operations
- Proven experience with electricity and water meter readings
- Experience within industrial and commercial property environments (essential)
- Exposure to MDA Property Manager or similar systems
- Basic understanding of electricity and water systems
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel between sites
