About the Role
A well-established company based in Pretoria (Hermanstad) is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Financial Accountant to join their team. The successful candidate will support the Financial Manager in managing financial records, ensuring accurate reporting, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing, examining, and maintaining financial records, reports, and general ledger accounts
- Ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and legal requirements
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Assisting with budgeting, expenditure monitoring, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Cashbook processing
- Processing supplier and customer invoices
- Managing monthly debtor collections
- Processing monthly supplier payments
- Processing purchase orders
- Stock control of vehicles and parts
- Processing foreign currency transactions (accounts receivable and payable)
- Reconciling bank statements and balance sheet accounts
- Supporting internal and external audits
- Overseeing payroll including salaries, bonuses, overtime, commission payments, and deductions
- Maintaining accurate and confidential personnel files
- Processing employee onboarding and offboarding documentation
- Assisting with certain administrative functions within the office when required
- Identifying process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Collaborating with internal teams to support financial decision-making
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Proven experience working as an Accountant or in a similar role
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Knowledge of tax regulations and audit processes
- Strong administrative skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in accounting software
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with good working knowledge of Word and Outlook
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
- Strong sense of responsibility, ownership, and accountability
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
